The iPed is sold at around $105 compared to the original iPad which price starts at $500. Pretty cheap eh? My first disappointment with this product is it looks used, but it was cheap so I said I can live with the marks on the screen. The next disappointment is it appears it is not possible to update the operating system to Android 2.0 which a review states it is possible; but ok, who is to say that guy is not an Android expert and he stated this system is not for the faint of heart. Another disappointment is I cannot locate the manufacture to get the firmware codes to do any updates.
However, I have to return poorly manufacture product. I have not had the product 30 days and the screen is peeling. To me that is just a sign that it is probably going to get worse. I would probably just exchange it, but that is not an option.
I'll just keep looking. It seems the more updated Android tablets have limited reader formats which is a problem for me and higher cost. I may have to just suck-it-up and start saving for an Ipad, but that thing weighs over a pound.

After all the disappointments I still was going to keep the product because it is an effective reader with multiple formats, wifi, 3G, and it is in color; the biggest thing is I can get Amazon and Border eBooks on the same device which is all I really wanted and affordability. I decided on this product and was elated to have my first open source product. I could live with the disappointment because it is cheap and was kind of expected. Plus I plan(ned) to use it as a learning device and if I screw up the BIOS it's more of a gain than a loss at least I learned something new.
